It is our pleasure to bring our customers and partners the current version of Cincom Smalltalk. This release includes the maintenance releases of Cincom ObjectStudio 8.8.1 and Cincom VisualWorks 8.2.1.

What’s in This Release
The current releases of ObjectStudio 8.8.1 and VisualWorks 8.2.1 are maintenance releases and contain fixes and improvements to the last major releases. Recent major releases contain noted “Version 2.0” revamps, which represent significant improvements and new features.
“Version 2.0” changes include Text2 and SourceCodeEditor 2 for the foundation tools, a “Next Generation User Interface” (NGUI) for ObjectStudio and Look&Feel 2 (UISkinning) for VisualWorks.
The major releases introduced a very capable auto-complete 2.0, browser improvements, supported LDAP(S), AppeX enhancements and much more in our foundation, which serves both products.
ObjectStudio 8.8 introduced a brand-new, NGUI-based launcher, with a focus on convenience and productivity.
VisualWorks 8.2 introduced, in preview, “Classic Skins” to assist application upgrades and two new preview VMs: OS X 64 and Linux PPC 64.
ObjectStudio shares a foundation library and VM as well as many of the same improvements as VisualWorks. For these new releases, over 137 action requests (ARs) and resolutions were addressed in the foundation, used by both products.
