A Taste of Biloxi: Bonfire, Boating and Shrimp. Oh My!

Once the STIC’12 Monday sessions end at 5:00 pm, you’re invited to experience three of Biloxi’s iconic traditions. All events take place just a short one-minute walk from the hotel, at the Small Craft Harbor (see image). Select what you’re interested in and attend just one – or all – of the events.  Then don your shorts, sandals or weather-appropriate casual attire and immerse yourself in the Southern experience. No matter what you choose, it’s guaranteed to be a night you won’t forget!

Join us for one – or all – of the following adventures:

Boating in the Gulf – Promptly at 6:00 pm, climb aboard the Sailfish for a one-hour “Living Marine Adventure Cruise.” While navigating the calm, protected waters between Deer Island and the Biloxi shoreline, you’ll learn everything you ever wanted to know about catching, cooking and eating that delicious southern delicacy, the shrimp. Enjoy a view of the sun setting over the Gulf, and once your appetite has been whetted, the boat will dock just in time for a traditional shrimp boil on the beach.

Shrimp Boil under the Stars – Gather under the tent at the Harbor by 7:00 pm for light appetizers and drinks. Then, once the boat docks and your colleagues disembark, you’ll all be treated to an authentic Biloxi “Shrimp Boil” that’s not just a meal – it’s an adventure! Local experts put on a show not to be found anywhere else. Enjoy Zydeco music while you feast on succulent shrimp, red potatoes and corn on the cob – finger food at its best! And for those who don’t care for shrimp, there’s Cajun pork and sausage jambalaya – as well as drinks and dessert. Yum!

Bonfire on the Beach – Once your stomach is full, relax and enjoy a drink next to a roaring bonfire on the beach, courtesy of the “Bonfire King.” Benches, torches and music set the scene under the stars for a satisfying end to your Biloxi adventure.  Stroll back to the Beau Rivage at your leisure, whenever you want to call it a night.
