CUSTOMERS and PARTNERS

What Is the Importance of Simplicity for Customers and Partners?

A key finding from multiple surveys of over 7,000 consumers, and interviews with hundreds of marketing executives was published in the Harvard Business Review. This study looked at what makes consumers “sticky,” or what motivates them to buy a product, remain loyal to it and recommend it to others.

According to Patrick Spenner and Karen Freeman in “To Keep Your Customers, Keep It Simple,”

“The single biggest driver of stickiness, by far, was ‘decision simplicity’—what consumers want from companies is, simply, ‘simplicity’.”

“Simplification Through Innovation®” is a Cincom motto that also applies to Cincom Smalltalk. Our customers and partners recognize and value the low risk, quick return on investment (ROI), and value Cincom Smalltalk adds to their businesses.

Calculating Relationships between Numbers in Cincom Smalltalk

Quantitative Analysis (QA) is a type of analysis that uses mathematical and statistical modeling, measurement and research to understand behavior. We have a video series on Quantitative Analysis that walks you through how to build algorithms and interactive charts using Cincom Smalltalk.

The Pearson Correlation Coefficient allows us to quantify the strength of the relationship between two number arrays. What can you do with it?

  • Test a hypothesis about a numerical relationship.
  • Create a predictive model.
  • Find outliers.
  • Evaluate the reliability of measurement instruments.

Other examples in which you could test correlation include:

  • Example 1: height vs. weight
  • Example 2: temperature vs. ice cream sales

What Technique Makes Sharing, Moving or Creating a Backup File of Your Code Simple?

SQLite is a small, fast and reliable relational database that is easy to use. Using Store with SQLite is a convenient format for sharing or moving Smalltalk code or creating a backup file of your code.

Often on Hidden Gems screencasts, we say “it is easy, once you know how,” and “Hidden Gems: SQLite and Store” is a great example of this. The minimal installation we need is simple, but not obvious.  Enjoy this useful technique!

Furthermore, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2022 that employment in the computer and information technology sector is expected to grow 15% between 2021 and 2031.
