Smalltalk app tops the Web 2.0 competition
Congratulations to the very talented smalltalkers including Avi Bryant and Andrew Catton at Smallthought Systems who aced the field at the 'Under the Rader' Web 2.0 conference at Microsoft's conference center in Silicon Valley last week. Dabble DB won the Best in Show Award as well as the "Make It Easy" categories as judged by both the panelists and attendees. All that within a week of accepting an invitation to attend!
It is great to see a Smalltalk app out the front of much hyped Web 2.0 crowd - especially one that demonstrates a degree of flexibility that most would dare not consider in other languages. I think it shows that Dabble DB has the substance that is lacking in some of the very quick-to-market Web 2.0 services that are largely just chasing the fad of the moment.
I'm aware that some of the apps that Dabble outshone at this conference have received a lot of coverage recently. The Dabble buzz will only heat more from here.
Fingers crossed that this will shine a new light on Smalltalk as an excellent platform for building truly leading-edge software.

Via Michael, I just noticed that Avi Bryant and Andrew Catton won the best in show award at the Under the Radar Conference - with this set of panelists. As Michael said, that should make a few people rethink Smalltalk.
