A (funny) thing happened on the way home from work today...

... I crashed my car.

1 1 1 1 1 1

Actually it was on the way home from Rowan's new place. I was driving carefully, the rain was pouring down hard. And on one particular round about, my back wheels spun out and I started to spin. I over corrected and spun the opposite way in to the rail guard on the side of the road. If the rail guard had given away I would have gone over a steep embankment. I was lucky.

I had always assumed that people who crashed in wet weather had been driving dangerously.. now I know that that's not the case. I was driving carefully, I wasn't speeding. As far as I can tell, I must have put the accelerator on as I was coming out of the turn, but the wet weather meant I had no traction.

So I guess I have to put this down to bad driving weather and lack of experience :/

I guess I'll find out tomorrow if my car is a write off or not. No one was injured in the making of these pictures. I tell you what though, that's an expensive $900 evening (that's the excess for my insurance)

It's good to see that you are okay. Even though I troll on this blog, I appreciate what you do and who you are. Hope everything turns out okay.

Sounds like over-inflated tyres. Many mechanics and some people do not keep their tyres inflated to the figure on the driver's door jam. The result can be not enough rubber on the road.
