Cincom Smalltalk® Developer Program

The object of the Cincom Smalltalk Developer Program is to create an environment that allows Cincom Smalltalk developers to participate in the ongoing development of the Cincom Smalltalk system.

Currently, the program offers the following benefits to developers:

  • Access to all internal builds (via ftp)
  • Access to ftp-based update mechanism for contributions
  • A subscription to the vw-dev engineering mailing list
  • Access to "works in progress"
  • Access to various product updates
  • A voice in the direction of ongoing product development

 

To enroll in the program, you need to complete the nondisclosure agreement - nda-2008-new.pdf (PDF) and fax it to the attention of Janice Meyer at Cincom Systems, Inc - +1 513 612-2467. The primary purpose of the NDA is to allow all communication between members of the VWDP and the VW engineering team to be completely open and independent of licensing issues or other legal matters. If you are an individual, just use your personal name for the "Company Name" entries on the form. If you don't have access to a fax machine, you can submit the NDA via regular mail:

Alternatively, you can print the PDF (see link above), scan it, and email the scanned NDA to the Cincom Smalltalk Star Team.

Once you have submitted your completed NDA, please subscribe to the vw-dev mailing list. You'll need to subscribe to the vw-dev-ann mailing list as well - where we periodically post announcements such as the availability of new builds, etc. To subscribe, send a request of the form:

Subscribing to these lists will give you access to ongoing builds of VisualWorks. If you are interested specifically in the ObjectStudio 8 project, we also have a mailing list for that project. To subscribe to the OSDEV list, please send an email request to Kim Thomas - upon approval, you will be able to participate.

The list server is a Majordomo server, so you send all commands in the body of the message, not in the subject. For a complete list of user commands, send a message to either vw-dev-request@parcplace.net or to majordomo@parcplace.net with the body "help." Your subscription request will be approved upon receipt of your completed NDA. Once approved, you will receive a message from the list server that describes the current facilities and how to access them. Please read this message!
