Support for NC Versions
Although there is no official support from Cincom for the non-commercial version there are a number of documents in the product information section that may guide you if you have a problem.
VisualWorks Non-Commercial is provided "as is," without any technical support from Cincom. There are, however, on-line sources of help available on VisualWorks and its add-on components. Be assured, you are not alone. Many of these resources are valuable to commercial licensees as well.
A large variety of technical information on Cincom Smalltalk may be found on the various Smalltalk blogs hosted by Cincom. You can subscribe to all of them using BottomFeeder, a news aggregator built in Cincom Smalltalk.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign very kindly provides several resources on VisualWorks and Smalltalk:
- A mailing list for users of VisualWorks Non-Commercial, which serves a growing community of VisualWorks Non-Commercial users. To subscribe or unsubscribe, send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org with the SUBJECT of "subscribe" or "unsubscribe".
- An excellent Smalltalk archive is maintained by faculty and students at UIUC, who are long-time Smalltalk users and leading lights in the Smalltalk community, at: http://st-www.cs.uiuc.edu/
- A Wiki (a user-editable web site) for discussing any and all things Cincom Smalltalk related at: http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/CincomSmalltalkWiki
