Entering the blogging world
Well, here's my first blog post. I thought I'd start by introducing myself. My name is David Buck. If any of you are into the computer graphics or ray tracing worlds, I wrote a ray tracer called DKBTrace which later became the popular POV-Ray. These days, I've been following the development of POV-Ray only at a distance and I admire the great work these guys are doing.
I attended Carleton University and studied under Wilf Lalonde, John Pugh (formerly of The Object People) and Dave Thomas (formally OTI and now the founder of Bedarra). I learned Smalltalk in 1984 and I've been active in the Smalltalk community since 1993 when I started teaching and consulting for The Object People.
I have my own company called Simberon. I wrote ElastoLab which is a physics simulator for kids (all in Smalltalk) and I'm now developing Smalltalk courses to fill a training void left when The Object People was acquired.
I have a wonderful wife and three wonderful kids. My main professional interests are in teaching Smalltalk and I plan to post many articles on learning Smalltalk in this forum in the future. Thanks to James Robertson for setting this up. Wish me luck - here I go.
