This tutorial is designed to help you start being productive in Smalltalk using VisualWorks. It assumes you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Smalltalk but know a little something about programming and are familiar with a GUI (windowing) operating system (such as Windows, Linux or MacOS). It does not attempt to explain every detail of VisualWorks up front - it takes a more practical and progressive approach in teaching you this programming language by presenting an actual business scenario and solving it, step by step, from scratch. |
|
This tutorial does assume that you have successfully installed VisualWorks
NC (7.3 or later) and that it is working properly. If you are having trouble installing
VisualWorks, you may want to consult the Installation Guide (install.pdf)
which can be found in the main directory where you downloaded the VisualWorks
files. This tutorial also requires some
additional files for the exercises and workshops. You will want to download
and install them on your machine before you begin.
