Georg Heeg Continues as STIC’12 Executive Director

On April 19, 2012, in STIC, by Jeremy Jordan

The voting is over, and the Smalltalk Industry Council board members are happy to report that Georg Heeg will continue on as the Executive Director of STIC.

Georg is happy and proud to represent STIC, and apparently the STIC board members are quite pleased with Georg’s contributions, since this will be his sixth year as Executive Director.

Georg says, “Thanks to all of you who have made the work for STIC so easy and successful over the last five years. Let us move on towards a long and good future of Smalltalk.”

Congratulations Georg!

  2. Hi Georg!

I miss you and have fond memories of my visit to Dortmund in the early 1990′s after leaving Xerox. That brief trip was my only visit to Europe. You made my stay very enjoyable and even welcomed me into your home and I am very grateful. The next time you visit California, please plan to visit and stay with us. Mark and I still live in the same home in Glendale.

Recently, I contacted Tom Love (Shoulders Corp) and Adele Goldberg, who told me that you’re still active in the Smalltalk community — and so you are. Congratulations on continuing as STIC’12 Executive Director!

On Valentine’s Day this year, it was exactly 20 years since I “retired” from Xerox. Since then, I have been very active:
Fiber Artist, Quilt Designer, Jewelry Designer, Knit/Crochet Design & Instruction (www.evelynArts.com)
Jewel City Knitters Guild, President & Founder(www.jewelcityknitters.com)
Web Design & Maintenance, Graphic Arts Design, PR (www.mvoDesign.com)
    Terrier Mom (www.terrierclub.com)

May 23, 2013 marks 30 years since the launch of Smalltalk-80 as a commercial product. While researching the history of Smalltalk-80, I noticed that there are holes in the published records from mid-1983 when it was launched until 1988 when ParcPlace Systems spun out of Xerox. I would like to fill those holes in time for the Smalltalk-80 3th Anniversary next year.

That milestone should be celebrated in some way. Do you have plans to do this? If not, let’s talk about planning an event, okay?

    Object-orientedly,
    Evelyn
