Improved Resolution Content Is on the Way

A new year’s resolution for Smalltalk Support is to begin delivering resolutions that contain multiple solutions to known issues.  This bundled resolution will result in eliminating conflicts between solutions that you have identified as important for your Smalltalk application.  A pannouncement will be made as the date gets closer to the delivery of a bundled resolution, and it will communicate which component will be targeted.  For example, if there are multiple reports for Web Services, Support will create a resolution that will combine those solutions to address each of those items.

In the meantime, here are a few reminders about resolutions in general.

Smalltalk Support and Engineering developed the resolutions to solve problems reported by our customers. These resolutions may or may not help solve any specific problem that you might encounter. We advise you to back up your application before applying the suggested fix or work-around in case you may need to restore your application to its previous state.

Please keep in mind that each resolution is an independent fix for the problem being described. When applying multiple resolutions, attention must be given to possible conflicts between resolutions. Your Store repository tool allows you to view such conflicts. When encountering a conflict, feel free to contact Smalltalk Support.

Accessing resolution downloads requires a username and password from Cincom at HelpNA@cincom.com. Once you have a username and password, open a web browser and key in the URL

_ftp://username:password@ftp.cincom.com/support.

Navigate to the Cincom® ObjectStudio® or Cincom® VisualWorks® directory as appropriate.
