In response to my complaint here, (which I also sent in a slightly more judiciously worded email), I did get a decent response:
Me: Is the Java team completely blind to events outside the Java Universe, or is it worse than that? Sun: None of the above: we neglected to spend enough time supervising the hype generators closely enough. We know better, and I apologize for the indiscretion.so I'll acknowledge the kind response. Now, let's see if they update the site....

It's also interesting to see that they have "hype generators" which Sun "supervises".
