Less CSS hackery ahead

February 3, 2006 19:31:15.945

This news from the IEBlog is welcome - a lot of moves to comply with the existing CSS standards - which will make for less hackery going forward. Good job by Microsoft's IE team, who also admit that there's more to be done.

WithStyle does better than IE7 on margin: auto

"...Microsoft's IE team, who also admit that there's more to be done."

Yes, such as margin: auto and fixing the new :hover pseudo-class bug evident at w3.org as Michael pointed out a few days ago.

As I was saying in a meeting the other day, if Michael could get margin: auto working in Smalltalk quite quickly, why hasn't Microsoft achieved this? Perhaps they find things more difficult with their development tools and code base...?
