Doc reports that Jeff Bezos is trying to patent trackbacks. So the head of Amazon is trying to convince the USPTO (a group of technical illiterates) that this is new. More over at IT Garage. I think I'll take my book buying business to a website that isn't run by a complete hack...

Even worse - Google search InternetAd Systems and look at these parasites. They were granted a patent on the wait screen. Someone has to stop these morons at the USPTO before they screw usability on the internet.

I have to prefix this with "I actually recommended that my company check something to see if it could be patented." Bezos is interested in private space travel, which moved him off my sh-t list, but this could move him back onto it. It's not a big deal for me, I do most of my business at B&N by default, but this could land Bezos back on my sh-t list.
