How a product launch should work
Nintendo demonstrates what a product launch should look like:
We're hanging out at Toys "R" Us Times Square this evening, getting all ready for a bazillion people to get their respective Wii on. As of 9PM the line is already mind boggling, but the word is Toys "R" Us is stocked with 5,000 of the dang things for the launch, so there are going to be a lot of people going home happy this evening. Keep watching this space for more of the action as it unfolds, and make sure to peep the pics after the break.
Maybe Sony should study...

Indeed. My kids wanted to camp overnite to get a WII, so we did, and it was quite orderly. There were only 60 boxes to give away, and about 50 people waiting at our particular store, Target, overnight. An hour before the store opened (8am), they gave everyone in line a voucher ticket. Once we had these, we packed up, sat in the car to warm up, went into the store to use rest rooms (thanks Target!). Great experience, except for the temperature, and the street cleaner which made watching Monty Python @ 11pm more or less impossible.
We were 16th in line, and waited about 10 minutes after the store opened before it was our turn to blow lots of cash ...
