I see that the European monopoly case against Microsoft is still grinding on - which is funny, because Microsoft is busily inflicting wounds on themselves (Vista) - just as I predicted they would. Large corporate entities tend to get more rigid and less able to cope with changing markets over time; Microsoft is no exception. Let nature take its course.

On the other hand, by the time they really feel the pain of Vista's rejection, they may have thrown Cincom, Apple, Sun, and other competitors in the county dump.  It is very late, but Europe is doing what DOJ failed to do--punish anti-competitive behavior.

I reread The Wealth of Nations last year. Amazing how a monopolist harms not just competitors, but also consumers. Microsoft has some good products. I just wish they were more willing to live by the rules or face the consequences like Standard Oil and the old AT&T.
