How to lose friends and torque off people
Looks like Rogers Cadenhead has found the dark side of Dave Winer - in the form of a "cease and desist" letter sent from an attorney Winer has retained. This is how Dave treats his erstwhile friends; it's not hard to figure out why fewer and fewer people can work with him. With respect to this "oh, it's hard to be Dave" post, Winer needs to buy a mirror. Every time he wonders why people dislike him, he can go have a look in it.
Oh, and to be extra clear - I take back every disdainful thing I ever said about Atom. The people involved in that effort knew about Dave, and I didn't. The whole thing makes a heck of a lot more sense now.

James,
Thank you for joining in public condemnation of Dave's use of the legal system to abuse a "hired hand" and long time supporter.
When Doc, Steve Gilmore, Mike Arrington and few others counsel dave that his "gestures" and "attention" are without merit but are shortsighted, vindictive attempts at trying to hurt someone who deserves better treatment.
Rogers intervention with dave's failing weblogs.com site saved a service that Dave later "unloaded" for $2.5M.
In good faith Rogers took an additional programming contract from Dave and now knows that doing business with Dave Winer is more of a liability than an asset.
Soon someone will ask us to back off because dave is in poor health. Yes... uncontrolled anger can destory your health and leave you with few friends.
Karma always seems to win.
Poor Health?

The Rogers Cadenhead, Dave Winer pissing match -- who's right? And, does it matter because Dave Winer is one of the names?

As a psuedo web developer, designer, client relations have always been difficult to navigation. Unless you are in a work for hire situation where the client has agreed to pay you by the hour, no matter how many changes they throw your way, you have to define a project almost to a tee to agree to some kind of fixed bid, or you're going to get fucked. And if something goes wrong (the client doesn't like it, or the client piles on new features but expects to pay the same price, or the client decid......
