Recovering Lost Code Screencast

January 17, 2006 17:52:14.461

In comments last week, there appeared to be some interest in how to recover lost code in Cincom Smalltalk - for instance, quitting an image without saving, forgetting to commit changes to the source code repository, a power outage, that kind of thing. So here it is - a quick walkthrough of recovering code with the change tool.

Excellent, James. A very nice, short-and-sweet demonstration.

Could we get the doit problem fixed

I've been begging since 1991 for code changes to NOT be placed in the .cha file as doits. This would aid in recovery after crashes. If you are testing new DLLCC or certain bootstrap issues, you can get a lot of crashes. Thanks
