Me! Me!

May 11, 2005 20:27:42.160

It's time that the people stopped pandering to Dave Winer's ego. The first thing to remember about Dave is that he's always reasonable, and it's the other guy who's wrong. Always. I mean, just look at his post, and compare it to Glenn's - which one sounds like a flaming egotist? The next thing to realize about Dave is his notions about rules - they're for other people - not important, syndication inventing, always right guys like Dave. Nope, never. Follow the self centered rambling here, here, and again, here.

For an example of his vast technical acumen, go have a look at the MetaWebLog API. Go ahead, try to implement just from that page - I dare you. It's far past time to stop pandering to this self centered, egotistical, obnoxious buffoon. He likes to play at being "the reasonable guy" - but if, like me, you've ever had the misfortune to exchange email with him, that veneer comes off very quickly and is replaced with venom and disdain.

If you don't agree with him - technically, politically, whatever - you aren't just wrong, you're evil. That's fine in 7th grade, but in an adult, it's just pathetic.

Yes, but that's how much of the discourse in our country runs these days. Just look at politics. Dave may be a victim of our cultural tendencies. Don't hate him, pity him and ignore him ;)

The guy obviously has some emotional, passive-agressive issues. He's on a continual quest for relevance--it's painful to watch.

Read some of his political postings. They are so uninformed and based on emotion that you would think he'd eventually figure out his incompetence in this area, get embarrassed and stop posting nonsense. He just keeps doing it. I'm not a Republican, but the way he talks about Republicans is so typical of liberals who don't LISTEN to some of the more educated ones--they'd rather lump them all together and label them. He's the same as those idiots with the "Ban France" bumper stickers. It's mental laziness, masturbated onto a syndicated feed.

The other day he asked people to link to him to get some flow. How about writing something intelligent (or at least interesting) that would cause people to want come to your site?

His site used to be interesting since he was one of the first bloggers and linked to interesting stuff, but it's so full of "look at me" posts, ignorant political rants and bile targeted at anyone who disagrees with him that it's just not relevant anymore. There's so many people blogging now that are actually DOING things instead of pointing to themselves that the original "A-Lister" navel gazers aren't needed.

I'd stop reading him if I were you.
