Ticker for BottomFeeder?
Michael Lucas-Smith has created a nice 'ticker' for VisualWorks - seems to be pretty easily pluggable for general use - look at package Ticker in the public store, and in particular, at class TickerExample. What do I plan to do with it? Well, I think I'm going to replace Bf slim mode with the ticker application (or at least offer that as an alternative 'slim' mode. I've got a few questions about the package that I've sent along to Michael; something should show up in the dev stream of BottomFeeder within a day or two.
Another thing I might well add is local 'file based' feeds. The idea is, some people (possibly with this code might be scraping sites without feeds to local files. What I think I'll do is add a capability to have those scanned on a regular basis.

Cool idea to add ticker as a BottomFeeder plugin.
It's probably a good idea to drop slim mode at the same time. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't use it and BottomFeeder would be better off with a few less options. The option to show a list instead of a table for the Item List is something else I think could be dropped.
I'm not sure what it means, in general, to scrape a site to generate a feed. Does it mean looking for changes in the webpages contained in a specified directory (and its descendent directories) of a website? Wouldn't that mean caching a lot of old pages in order to be able to detect changes?

Hey, I use the list instead of the table view. I never liked the table, not least because it reduced the number of items I could see.

I use the slim mode occasionally, but what would be more usefull. It's usefull for sticking on the side of the 2nd monitor, then I can see at a glance without alot of wasted realestate if anyone I care about has posted something.
The ticker would be harder to follow I rekon, as at a glance it doesn't tell you anything expect one, maybe two things.

Of course - if the slim mode regularly refreshed its "new filter" status it would actually do what i want :p
