VW 7.4 Patches

We suggest that you do not install any of the patches or workarounds offered here, unless you are experiencing a problem similar those described in the description field.

This page contains two categories of 'fixes':

Patches Suggested Workarounds These categories reflect a level of confidence and risk associated with their use. Patches are code fixes which are tentatively scheduled to appear in the next release of VisualWorks. This code has been reviewed and tested by Development Engineering, and we believe that the potential for causing regression in your image is small. But, it does exist. The validity of any fix is continuously evaluated throughout the development cycle of a release.

Suggested Workarounds consists of code provided by Technical Support and by our customers to address existing bugs. The review and testing cycle of this code is much less than that for a patch, and the potential for regression is correspondingly greater. Technical Support cannot officially "support" these suggestions, because our charter is to support only the products of Development. Their purpose is strictly short term; to help you get around your immediate problem, until such time as a supported fix is available.
