Sam's CLS GUI Post

As some of you know, I've recently become a member of the VisualWorks engineering team. My big project for 2001 is "GUI". This project covers Widgets, GUI & UI Framworks, the UIPainter and the various looks and feels. It does not cover Browers, Tools, Tool Behavior. etc... we have another developer who's 2001 project is "Tools".

I want to open the flood gates. I want to hear all about your GUI issues. Got a problem with how a widget works? Got a trick on making the ApplicationModel easier to use? Is there something you've always wanted to see a widget or the framework do? Is there a cool new widget idea you wish was part of the core?

I want to hear about it!

Yes, I even want the "xxxx widget sucks!" messages.

There's a lot of work to do already (such as finally removing the polling interface and making the whole system truly event driven...), so we're not going to be able to match WindowsBuilder this coming year (but watch out in 2002, Eric :-)). None the less, I need to know how to make *you* more productive. All comments will help define and prioritize our work.
