Description of the VisualWorks 5i.3 Beta1 Object Engines (Differences between version 5 and 4)
These are the first beta engiens for the upcomming VisualWorks 5i.3 release. They all feature the addition of a polymorphic inline cache which provides about a 25% performance increase in the compute-bound macro benchmarks in the AT benchmarks parcel.
The available engines available are commercial engines on:
- Windows, Linux86, Solaris and HPUX11,
- - Power Macintosh (MacOS 9), AOSF (Compaq Tru64Unix), ibm aix
- + Power Macintosh (MacOS 9), AOSF (Compaq Tru64Unix), IBM AIX and SGI.
and non-commercial engines for: - Windows, Linux86, LinuxSPARC, Solaris, and HPUX11,
