VisualWorks engineering is interested in participating in academic and research projects with a VisualWorks focus. In particular we want to encourage masters and Ph.D. level students who wish to work on research topics in the context of VisualWorks. This page is for discussing such work.
Suggested Research Topics
Currently we are working with students under Ralph Johnson at UIUC on multi-media wikis. We are also setting up projects with Stephane Ducasse at the University of Berne on a number of topics. The contact point for research projects in VisualWorks engineering is Eliot Miranda.
Fostering Research
One idea Stephane and Eliot have been discussing is for ESUG to sponsor student workshops. These would give the chance for students doing work in Smalltalk to meet and discuss their research while attending ESUG. This needs sponsorship so one task is for Eliot to ask Cincom for money.
